MR16 Base 12V
There is lots of talk about swapping high energy halogen bulbs to new energy-efficient LED spotlights but it can be hard to understand all the different options available. MR16 LED spotlights are one of the most common choices when it comes to swapping over halogen bulbs for new LED spotlights, but if you are not in the know, it can be confusing to know exactly what MR16 LED spotlights are and whether they are the right choice for your or not. You are probably also concerned as to whether swapping over to MR16 LED spotlights will still give you the same level of light as your current halogen lights, or whether the lighting will be dimmer because of the lower power usage. This is a common concern but one that you do not need to worry about at all. MR16 LED spotlights, as with all LED lights, are much more energy efficient by cutting out wasted energy on heat, not by cutting out the amount of energy converted into light. This means that you can swap over your halogen light bulbs to MR16 LED spotlights and be using much less power but still be getting the same amount of light out of them, or even more if you so wish.
MR16 LED spotlights are intended as replacements for the old 12v halogen bulbs which are famous for their high power usage. The old 12v halogen bulbs use so much energy not just because they are bright, but because so much of the energy put into them is wasted as heat. You only have to stand under some halogen bulbs for a little while to feel how much heat is being produced by them and this heat is all being produced at your expense from the energy that you are putting into them. MR16 LED spotlights only lose around 20% of their energy as heat, as opposed to 80% lost as heat with halogen bulbs. This means that they require far less energy to produce exactly the same amount of light as a halogen bulb. This converts into a healthier environment as well as significant energy savings which save you real cash each and every day that you use your lights.
By swapping over to MR16 LED spotlights, you will also be able to choose between a warm white light or a daylight white light. As the names suggest, the warm white light gives a warmer, typical bulb feel, while a daylight white light is slightly clearer and super bright, emulating real daylight as opposed to the slightly more yellowish tinge that is normally associated with interior lighting. The choice is totally yours depending on your preference and possibly on the room that you are using it in. For example, many people opt to have MR16 LED spotlights using the warm white light for rooms such as living rooms and dining rooms where a more intimate nature and complimentary lighting may be preferred.
