GU10 Base 240V
LED spotlights are quickly replacing the standard halogen spotlights but many people get confused with the different variations and options there are available to buy. The chances are that you want to take advantage of the benefits that are associated with LED spotlights, such as the long life spans and increased energy efficiency, but are worried that LED spotlights will not perform as well as your halogen lights or will not fit your existing light fittings. This, luckily, is something you do not need to worry about as LED spotlights will retrofit your existing light fittings. However, there is also a good chance that you therefore want to replace your halogen spotlights with LED spotlights that are of the same level of illumination and do not know which option to go for.
GU10 LED spotlights are one of the most common types of LED spotlights to purchase. These GU10 LED spotlights are intended to be used as direct replacements for any 240v halogen bulbs that you may already be using in a number of different fittings. These GU10 spotlights are not only designed to give you the same level of illumination as a standard halogen bulb, but they are also designed to fit your existing light fittings without any need to carry out modifications or changes in any way whatsoever. In fact, replacing your spotlights with GU10 LED spotlights is exactly the same as if you were replacing it with another standard halogen bulb.
The important thing to look at when choosing your GU10 LED spotlights is to look out for the lumen output and not the watts. Many people are used to using the watts of a light bulb as an indication to the light output. This is because old bulbs, such as incandescent bulbs and halogen bulbs, were often simply referred to buy their power usage, for example, a 60 watt light bulb. However, GU10 LED spotlights, as well as all other variations of LED lights, actually use far less power (or far fewer watts) to produce exactly the same amount of light. Therefore, a 50 watt halogen bulb may produce the amount of light that you are looking for, but you may only require a fraction of this wattage when it comes to choosing your LED replacement. This is because halogen bulbs lose the majority of their energy as heat and therefore only a small amount of that 50 watts required to power it actually gets converted into light. GU10 LED spotlights on the other hand convert the vast majority of their energy directly into light, meaning far fewer watts are required to produce the exact same amount of light.
